Our values also change when we change goals or self-image. If you set a goal to be number one in the company, when you reach it you will be earning more money and expecting different things from others. Your values of how hard you will work from now on may also change. What you regard as a nice car will be quite different. Even the people you spend your time with may also change to march your new self-image.
There are some managers who figure they are being good motivators if they are good on their own terms. But various people value different things. For some, the most important thing it to work with people they care about. When those people start drifting off, the job losses its luster. Some value a sense of creativity an excitement. Some value other things. If you want to manager well, you need to know an employee’s supreme values and how to fitful them. If you do not provide those, you will lose him or at least never have time working at peak performance and enjoying his job.
Values are the most powerful motivating tool we have. If you want to change a bad habit, the change can be make very rapidly if you will link the successful maintenance of that change with high value.
Value are the overriding factor that causes congruence or incongruence, causes people to be motivated or not. If you know their value, you have final key. If you do not, you may create a powerful behavior that does not last or does not produce in desire end. If it is in conflict with a person’s values, it will act like a circuit breaker to override them. Value are like the most of last resort. They decide which behaviors work and which does not which produce desired states and which produce incongruity.
Your own private, personal and individual beliefs about what is most important to you. Your values are your belief system about right, wrong, good and bad. Over values are the things we all fundamentally need to move toward. If we do not we would not feel whole and fulfilled. They even determine what you will move away from. They govern your entre life style. They determine how you will respond to my given experience in life. They are much like the executive level in a computer. You can put in any program you like, but whether the computer accepts the program, whether it uses it or not, all depends on how the executive level was pogrommed but the factory. Values are like the executive level of judgment in the human brain.
