Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.
To many of us, whether it is forgiving those close to us or ourselves, does not come easy. Letting go of the hurt someone caused you and forgiving that person after he or she has wronged you is not as simple as it sounds. How can you compel your heart to be merciful? How can you just let of all the anger and hate and truly forgive?
Moreover, forgiving yourself could be just as difficult. Undoubtedly, you past is full of mistakes and the many setbacks you experience make you feel unworthy and unhappy. When you lowly regard yourself, you will not value yourself. This will cause you to be harsh on yourself whenever you err and falter. Even worse, you will not believe in yourself. You will not supply yourself with the support you need to become the impactful, powerful and significant person you can truly be. You must learn to give yourself, from there, you will let of what was and focus on what can be.
Although meditation and nurturing a positive mindset allow you to experience peace and calmness of the mind, only when you begin to truly forgive yourself and others can you gain a true sense of complete inner-peace.
