Adapt and change
Part of being yourself is knowing that you will grow. Encourage yourself to do so thoughtfully. Life moves on, culture shifts and you cannot succeed if you do not stay informed, aware and malleable. Part of staying on target is knowing when to refocus.
Be resourceful
You have access to resources today that did not exist as recently as 5 years ago. Stay up to date with advances in tools and technology so that you can incorporate new methods into your practice. The thing you have needed all along may not have existed until recently.
Redefine success
Success is not about winning the hearts of every person. Focus on the people who will understand, benefit from and support you. If you could win over even 5% of the world, that is still 370 million people and a tremendous success. Focus on the possible.
Raise each other up
You are on your own journey, but you are not alone. Each of us is fighting to be heard in a chorus of overlapping and intersection voices. Support each other’s work, world, projects and product. We all win when we help each other succeed.
Create and preserve space
The world is not just handing out safe spaces where we can makes, grow and flourish. We can help each other by creating both physical and digital spaces that support each other. More important, we can work together to preserve those that already exit.
Do not ever stop
Do not stop being yourself. Do not stop speaking out. Do not stop fighting to be heard. Do not stop shouting, whether that is by literally shouting or simply living your life your way. Never giving up is how you win. Never give up. Win.
